Well well well, what do we have here? A great speech without a teleprompter? NO WAY!
Fox News is talking about it right now- how Sarah Palin delivered much of her speech without aid of the teleprompter.
This kind of happened to President Bill Clinton while I was at the White House during the 1994 State of the Union address. Last minute editing of Clinton’s speech did not make it onto the right floppy disk (my how times have changed) and the wrong speech was loaded. You would have never known the way Bill belted it out.
Dave the teleprompter operator was relieved of his duties.
But Sarah! Wow, that’s great for a small-town mayor. Oh, yea, and governor, too. Forgot about that one!
Here’s the story from Red State:
According to sources close to the McCain campaign, the teleprompter continued scrolling during applause breaks. As a result, half way through the speech, the speech had scrolled significantly from where Governor Palin was in the speech. The malfunction also occurred during Rudy Giuliani’s speech, explaining his significant deviations from his speech.
Bret Baier from Fox News was on the floor watching the teleprompter with the wrong text displayed- just in case you think this is hype.
What about Obama? From the same article:
Contrast this to Barack Obama who, when last his teleprompter malfunctioned, was left stuttering before a crowd unable to advance his speech until the problem was resolved.
uhhh… um… guns… um.. religion… reboot reboot!
