McCain on the Surge and Obama’s Surge Comments
While waiting for McCain…
“I think that the surge has succeeded in ways that nobody anticipated,” Obama said while refusing to retract his initial opposition to the surge. “I’ve already said it’s succeeded beyond our wildest dreams.”
But what about this seven minute video with his multiple positions?
Which one is it?
And how does Barry respond to these veterans?
9:27PM- As I watch Lindsey Graham and Tom Ridge, I think back to last night. I think of Huckster and Romney, Rudy and Palin. It sure is quite a contrast. They really should have split up the new vs. the old.
I wonder how that football game is going…
Cindy’s next! Her story is great. She could have just sipped from the keg of Budweiser wealth, but she didn’t.
UPDATE:
McCain and Things
10PM- Yet another Bristol Palin shot… Johnny Mac next up!
1022PM – Code Pink wacko … ground noise and static! Good one!
Was that two wackos? Just a sad thing to see. There’s a time and place for everything.
1027PM – Advanced warning- change is coming!
1029PM – John McCain works for us! This is a good thing!
1030PM – Buy groceries, fill gas tank, pay mortgage… that’s twice
1031PM – “I’d rather lose and election than see my country lose a war.”
That’s his best line yet. It’s 100% McCain.
1032PM – So far it looks like Palin’s the hatchet woman. Nothing remotely negative.
1044PM – McCain’s right – why do we send out so much aid? 700 billion? Wow.
1045PM – McCain on energy. Here’s what the Heritage Foundation says about energy:
Those who don’t know energy policy history are condemned to repeat it. There are many energy bills currently pending before Congress, and they fall into two general categories: (1) those that seek to increase domestic energy supplies, and (2) those that seek scapegoats and diversions instead. Policymakers should recognize the failures of past energy policies that led to some of the most dismal and frustrating years for American consumers and instead focus on ways to increase the supply of energy domestically.
1051PM – A wonderful explanation of his passion for peace.
On reform, “I have that record, and the scars to prove it.”
UPDATE 2:
Here’s the text of tonight’s speech from Townhall.
This is inspiring:
If you find faults with our country, make it a better one. If you’re disappointed with the mistakes of government, join its ranks and work to correct them. Enlist in our Armed Forces. Become a teacher. Enter the ministry. Run for public office. Feed a hungry child. Teach an illiterate adult to read. Comfort the afflicted. Defend the rights of the oppressed. Our country will be the better, and you will be the happier. Because nothing brings greater happiness in life than to serve a cause greater than yourself.
I wish his speech had more of the above in it, but the last 5 minutes of McCain’s speech reminded me of a fireworks finale.
The balloon drop looks great. I think that’s a wrap.

You ask why we send $700 billion/year in aid to foreign countries? Actually, we don’t — the total foreign aid is only $23 billion. McCain made it up, or maybe misspoke. And why wouldn’t he say who he will stop giving aid to?
Of course, we might save that much money if we end our midguided war — but that is clearly not McCain’s plan.
